It’s a star-studded episode this week, Dia-babies, as I sit down and talk into my laptop mic with actress, writer, and comedian Jennifer Bartels alongside our Type None guest and her boyfriend, Vance. In addition, to be the most famous of my guest, Jen is also the most recently diagnosed Type 1 I’ve had on yet and her story gives a really interesting and eye-opening look into the not so bright side of Type 1. The first few years after diagnosis can be hectic for anyone, but imagine having to do it in your 30s when you thought you had life pretty well figured out. Jen tells us what it’s been like learning how to be her own pancreas for the past two years as she navigates auditions, exercise, and social situations while Vance talks to us about just how frustrating it is not even knowing what you don’t know but how candy can now solve a lot of Jen’s problems. So check your toxic positivity at the door, prepare for some cold hard truthy realness, and don’t forget to duck and cover (you’ll see what I mean) on this week’s episode of Ask Me About My Type 1. Listen to Episode 2 of Ask Me About My Type 1 Season 2 now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher or anywhere you listen to podcasts.
It’s Not Always Sunny with Type 1

I'm Walt and I've been living with my Type 1 Diabetes ever since June of 2000. I've spent most of the past two decades trying to ignore my condition with less than stellar results. But now I'm making up for lost time and doing my part to spread awareness the only way a millennial can these days: through a podcast! Join me and other Type 1s as we try to teach the Non-Type 1s in their lives what this whole T1DLyfe is all about. View all posts by askmeaboutmytype1
