Type 1 Diabetics can do ANYTHING!! It’s a beautiful sentiment about perseverance and determination and how the indomitable spirit of each and every person out there living that Type 1 life can overcome any challenges that this condition of ours throws at us. But as inspiring as this message can be the fact is that it just isn’t true. I mean that phrase is ALWAYS followed up by the classic exceptions: military service and flying planes. But while most of us are okay with skipping 5 am PT and not living out of one of those rolly suitcases, there are Type 1s out there who do want those very things. Case in point: my Type 1 guest Danielle who was diagnosed while studying to become a commercial airline pilot with hopes of joining the military. Type None guest and Danielle’s best friend Rojean joins us as Danielle tells of how frustrating the above phrase can be when Type 1 is literally the only thing hold you back and I learn what it really means when we say Type 1s can’t fly planes. So fasten those seatbelts and put your tray tables in their upright and locked positions because this episode is about to take off so brace yourselves as we learn more about the things that Type 1s CAN’T do for once. Listen to Episode 5 of Ask Me About My Type 1 Season 2 now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher or anywhere you listen to podcasts.

I'm Walt and I've been living with my Type 1 Diabetes ever since June of 2000. I've spent most of the past two decades trying to ignore my condition with less than stellar results. But now I'm making up for lost time and doing my part to spread awareness the only way a millennial can these days: through a podcast! Join me and other Type 1s as we try to teach the Non-Type 1s in their lives what this whole T1DLyfe is all about. View all posts by askmeaboutmytype1
