This week on Ask Me About My Type 1 I have on Marissa who was diagnosed only a few weeks ago during the current global state of COVID 19 crisis. So much of the information relating to COVID 19 and Type 1 assumes that Type 1 is preexisting, but what happens when your diagnosis comes in the middle of the aforementioned pandemic? That’s where my new Type 1 guest Marissa and her Type None boyfriend, Charlie, come in. Marissa and Charlie tells us how they’ve been navigating Marissa’s newly diagnosed Type 1 while in the bubble of quarantine, how she’s been managing Type 1 so far, and the huge support Type 1 social media has been. It’s a fascinating perspective that thousands of newly diagnosed Type 1s are currently living and Ask Me About My Type 1 is here to learn all about it!!!
This week on Ask Me About My Type 1 I have on the co-founder of Maximus Bolus, Matt Tarro, and his long time Type None friend, Nick Parker. Matt and I discuss the apparent lack of a male presence in the Type 1 space that we both noticed and what Matt has been doing to hopefully address it. As co-creator of the newly formed Type 1 guy group, Maximus Bolus, Matt tells us how the group came to be and what it has already been able to accomplish through web calls with Type 1 men from around the world. Parker is our Type None guest and asks some really great Q’s in the interest of being able to connect on the Type 1 level with the three Type 1 men that he knows. So grab a seat in your favorite lazy-boy recliner and tune in to this week’s Ask Me About My Type 1 all about guy talk.

Oh heeeyyy!!! This week on the podcast I had a very welcome surprise and ended up talking all about that unspoken connection between those of us who can’t make insulin anymore. That feeling you get when you meet someone who just “gets it” because they understand what living with Type 1 means. I originally brought on Type 1 Qiana Drew and Type None Antonio Vizcarrondo to talk about music and performing but we end up going much deeper into the idea of Type 1 Culture and how Antonio relates to this through his own unspoken connections via culture and food. It’s a great conversation so get comfortable because we’re talking about how great it is to just “get it” on this week’s brand new episode of Ask Me About My Type 1!!! Break out the mats Type 1s and Nones because it’s all about Yoga this week!!! Specifically I’m exploring the Mind&Body connection and how this Yogic practice can help all the Type 1 yogis and yoga curious folks reconnect with their physical bodies outside of all that Type 1 stuff we’re always having to do. Yoga instructor and Type 1 guest Maia Bremmer shares her experiences going through yoga teacher training and her initial difficulties with turning her Type 1 brain off during the more meditative parts of her training. Type None guest Ashley Belluz gives us her perspective as an instructor with Type 1 students in her classes and the insights she’s gained from watching their practice evolve. Ash also gives tells us about a new form of restorative yoga that she teaches called Feelosophy which is an interesting hybrid of massage and yoga characterized by hands on touch and how it accounts for those of us who wear medical devices. FurSuit UP Type 1s and Nones!!! I’m sitting down with my new Type 1 AND Furry friend, Bailey, and learning about the ins and outs of FurSuiting with Type 1. Bailey’s Type None boyfriend, Alex, joins us and shares his experience learning about both Bailey’s Type 1 and furry fandom and how he has learned to be there for Bailey when she’s all suited up in her octopus, deer, dog, skunk hybrid fursona, and no that isn’t a typo. Bailey also teaches me about the misconceptions that surround the furry community but also how it is so much more than people on the outside realize. It’s a fascinating conversation where I get to revisit my mascoting days and learn how traveling with Type 1 supplies is a cake walk compared to traveling with a fursuit. So zip up your favorite arctic fox suit and make sure your head is on straight because the Ask Me About My Type 1 episode all about Type 1 furrying is live!!! This week on everyone’s favorite Q & A podcast all about Type 1, I host a very special Type NONE guest, Delanie Fischer!!! For those who may not know, Delanie is one of the hosts of my favorite health, wellness, and comedy themed podcast Self-Helpless. Delanie has no knowledge of or connection to Type 1 so I called up friend of the show Jennifer Bartels from season 2 episode 2 and sat down with Delanie to answer all of her burning Type 1 Q’s. This episode, and what I hope to be many more to come, is my effort to be more strategic about my awareness spreading by reaching out to the Type Nones that really should know more about what living with Type 1 actually means. And Delanie being the professional self-help pod-caster and question asker that she is seemed like the perfect Type None to start it all off with. As you’ll hear, Delanie was an absolute dream Type None guest and the questions she brought really made me look at aspects of my Type 1 experience that I hadn’t thought of in years. Sit back and enjoy as I get startegic on this VERY inceptiony episode of Ask Me About My Type 1 and host the host of another podcast on my podcast with a guest with whom I’ve podcasted with before on this very same podcast. Listen to Episode 2 of Ask Me About My Type 1 Season 3 now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher or anywhere you listen to podcasts.
I’m back Type Ones and Nones! It’s the very first episode of the Ask Me About My Type 1 hat trick season and it’s a banger for sure!!! I have on Jordan of @butfirstinsulin fame and she inspires me to make up my very own Type 1 Phrase: Type 1 Hype-In!!! It’s that feeling you get when Type 1 is the reason why everything is going just the way you want them to! It’s an odd one for sure but if it were to end up in the Oxford dictionary Jordan would be the visual example next to the definition because of her absolutely Type 1 Hype-In attitude after her absolutely crazy diagnosis. On top of that Jordan’s sister, Christina, gives me an entirely new perspective on the idea of Type 1 burnout and the importance of support. PLUS I announce some very fashionable developments! Ask Me About My Type 1 is back y’all!!! Get at me in the comments!
