Ep. 14.5 Where Are They Now Season Finale Special Part 2

And with this, the close of Season 1 of Ask Me About My Type 1 has come. During Part 2 of the Where Are They Now Season Finale Special Perri (Episode 9) and Erika (Episodes 10 and 13) tell all about the ways they DON’T let Type 1 get in their way. Perri tells us about the importance of remaining flexible in the face of hours spent in waist-high waters when your pump is NOT waterproof and Erika completes the Ask Me about My Type 1 hat trick and tells me about one of her more recent interactions in LA with a guy and his plan to pretend to have Type 1… cause ya know…that’s a thing now. I also give my final thoughts on the season and tell you how to keep in touch over the long summer months to come whilst simultaneously begging for attention from the internet! Ep. 14 Where Are They Now Season Finale Special Part 1

The time has come to start ramping up so I can proceed to ramp back down for the end of Season One of Ask Me About My Type 1! The Season One Finale is coming at you in two parts and this week is all about Part 1 of the Where Are They Now Special. I’ll be speaking with guests from episodes past to see what they’ve been getting up to since we last spoke and how all things life AND Type 1 are going. In Part 1 I speak with Dave from Episode 7 and Olivia from Episode 2 about both the unforeseen hardships AND unexpected surprises that Type 1 can bring. Dave tells us about the two years he spent without health insurance and the help he found online while Olivia talks about how her dream job started negatively affecting her A1C and the changes that had to be made. Ep. 13 Sex, Love, and Dating with Type 1

Oh hi, Dia-peoples! Ask Me About Type 1 is back this week to talk about all things sex, dating, and relationships with Type 1. And I’ve even called in a professional! Meet this week’s Type None guest The Magnetic Woman herself: Lauren Joyce, a professional sex, love, and relationship coach. It’s an entirely new perspective on all the questions we’ve all been asking:  Am I still attractive with my medical devices? What happens when Type 1 gets in the way of intimate times? When should I tell them about my Type 1!?!? And with world-renowned expertise to back it up! Friend of the show and the greatest dia-friend I’ve never met, Erika Young, joins me and we get real thoughtful with Lauren as she tells me what I SHOULD have done that one time back in college. I know I say it a lot, but this time the answers REALLY will shock you! Ep. 12 Ximena and Scarlet

It’s another new episode of Ask Me About My Type 1 and as always the Q’s and A’s are just waiting for you to listen in! This week I have on Type 1 guest Ximena (listen in to learn how to pronounce it) and her Type None best friend Scarlet Tune to teach you all about Type 1ing the way they do it in Venezuela. Ximena tells us all about how Type 1 camp turned her entire attitude about her Type 1 around, attitudes toward Diabetes in Venezuela, and what Ximena ended up doing when pharmacies in Venezuela started running out of Insulin for months at a time. Scarlet also tells me what it was like when Ximena made her go to Type 1 camp one summer and how her best friend’s social media is helping her understand Type 1. Ask Me About My Type 1 is totally international for Episode 12, folks because all three of us were calling in from completely different countries this time around! That’s nothing y’all would notice really though…just really wanted to mention it. Season 1, Type 1 Diabetes

Ep. 11 Maggie and Lucy

It’s a Blehar family episode of Ask Me About My Type 1 this time around as I have on friend of the show and Type 1 guest from Episode 1, Maggie, and her sister Lucy. I hear Maggie’s diagnosis story again but this time from Lucy’s perspective and her initial thoughts after learning about her big sister’s diagnosis. Lucy comes in with some high-quality Q’s that get Maggie and I thinking about just how much of our brains are dedicated to Type 1 management and how the rest of Life fits in. We also get into our thoughts on the annoyingly ignorant portrayal of Type 1 and Diabetes that are “Diabetes jokes” (#dobetterjimmy) and Lucy tells us how she hopes to fix it. And did I mention that the banger intro track you’re about to hear was produced by Maggie and Lucy’s brother Sam? It’s a very Blehar episode this Monday, Type 1s and Type Nones and you are not going to want to miss it! This episode features three guests and they all have one very unique experience in common: they’ve all biked across the country with me! I interview my teammates from rides past and learn what biking for 80 and 70 days straight respectively with me and my Type 1 was like for my Type None teammates, Erica and Caitlyn, while my Type 1 teammate Perri and I talk about that one time we biked to San Francisco with 18 other Type 1s on a team called Bike Beyond.
